Start a sequel from an existing game

Copy an eligible series release into a new project with a fresh game history.

On this page

What you need

A series with an eligible release published from the Studio. An unpublished working project alone is not the source for this flow.

Steps

  1. In Your games, find the series.
  2. Choose Start a sequel, or the offered next-part action.
  3. If more than one source is available, use Copy from to choose the game and release.
  4. Enter a name for the new game.
  5. Choose whether to add it to the series as the next part.
  6. Review Copied over and Starts fresh.
  7. Choose Create and open.
  8. Edit the new project, run it and save your changes.
  9. Review its rating and publish when it is ready.

What happens next

Code, images, sounds, controls, orientation and libraries are copied. The rating is a starting point that you must confirm.

The sequel starts fresh with its own releases, player saves, leaderboards and activity. Changes in the copy do not change the original game. It goes through its own publishing checks.

If there is nothing to copy

Publish an eligible Studio release for a game in the series first. If the source is no longer eligible or the series changed, close the dialog, refresh the series and try again.
