Publish your first release or update a game

Work through readiness checks and submit a locked copy of your project.

On this page

Before you start

Run the current project and test it. A successful preview is preparation for publishing, not publication itself.

Steps

  1. Open the project and choose Publish.
  2. In Checklist, use Check it if the current files have not been checked.
  3. Fix everything under Needed to publish, including build problems.
  4. Review Store page. For a new game, initial text comes from llvls.json; further store-page editing is available once the game exists.
  5. Complete Rating and choose Save rating.
  6. Review Devices and test the controls you declare. Games without touch controls are hidden on phones.
  7. Write Release notes describing this version. Players can read these notes.
  8. Check whether the project publishes as a new game or to the intended existing game. Once associated, a project keeps that game association.
  9. Read the final confirmation and choose Publish release or Save and publish, as shown.
  10. Follow the release’s progress page.

What happens next

Publishing saves pending changes and submits a locked copy. You can keep editing without changing that release. If the save fails, nothing is published.

Items in Worth checking are suggestions, but may still matter to players. Submission does not mean the game is live: the release must pass checks and any required review.

If you cannot submit

Resolve the displayed requirement. If another release is being checked, wait for it to finish. Follow release-limit or retry messages rather than creating duplicate submissions.
